Depending on use and level of care I would normaly expect a burner to last 2-5 years, although we still have customers who are using our burners that are now 7 yrs old. To sit in the garden with friends and family, I believe that that represents exelent value for money. Back to Top

Over a period of time it is inevitable that the burner may develop one or more cracks, in most cases these are merely surface crazes which are caused as a result of the huge difference in expansion between the inside and outside surface temperatures. To get the most out of your Bushmann Burner we recommend that before winter sets in, you light a fire to dry out the burner. With the burner dry, paint it with your preferred colour of cupernol timber shades or retain the natural colour and paint with thompsons waterseal. This will take no more than 5 minutes. Remove all sand and ash from the bottom of the burner and free up the small drain hole in the bottom of the burner. This will ensure that any exsesss water will be able to drain freely. Back to Top

Yes, if you wish to burn charcoal or logs the Burner will work well without a fire grate. You will however need to put a small quantity of sand in the bottom of the burner to protect the base from impact damage. The fire that you make should be made in the middle of the burner and not stacked up against the back. If you are burning smokeless coal or house coal then you do need to replace the fire grate. Back to Top
- Why does my Bushman Burner have a hole in the bottom?
Every Bushman Burner has a hole drilled in the bottom prior to despatch, this is purely to allow any excess rain water that may collect in it during its normal use to drain away avoiding puddles developing. Back to Top

Bushman Burners are best placed on the edge of a patio in a flower border. By placing your burner in a flowerbed, valuable patio space is not wasted. Back to Top
- Can I move my Bushman Burner?
Yes, within reason Bushman Burners can be moved or repositioned. However, we recommend that once you have found the perfect position in your garden it is advisable to leave it in place as more damage can occur through knocks and bangs and unnecessary handling when moving the burner. Back to Top
- How far away from my Bushman Burner will I be sitting?
This will be determined by the time of year and the type of fire you have. For instance, if your fire is a smokeless coal fire then typically on a cool summer evening the MIDI will radiate heat for 2-4 ft. and keep 2-4 people comfortably warm. The MIDI, QUICKFIRE Burner, DINGLE JUNIOR and the TEDDY BEAR Burner will radiate heat up to 8ft. and keep 6-8 people warm. The MAXI and DINGLE SENIOR will radiate heat up to 15ft and I have sat as many as 15 people comfortably around them. As you can appreciate, it is not necessary to huddle around our range of garden heaters, as you would have to around a Chiminea. Back to Top

Furthermore, Bushman Burners have a patented wire mesh reinforcing which holds them together; this means that even if the Bushman Burner does crack, it will not fall apart like a Mexican Chimenea.
